Mammoth Camera, J.A. Anderson Co. (1900)

Jonathan R. Lichtenstein served on the production staff at WHRO 90.3FM Classical from 2004 to 2012. You can explore his Radio Days in detail. His achievements in an otherwise conservative broadcast format might be considered Neoclassical.

Capitalizing on his experience behind the microphone, since 2010 he has demonstrated his penchant for Plane Speaking as the announcer for all air shows at the Military Aviation Museum (MAM). He also was a dedicated member of the MAM management team from 2013 to 2015. The depth and breadth of this work is outlined under the Wingspan section of this website. Link to MAM Multimedia for an archive of his social media marketing campaigns in support of the museum.

Jonathan cultivated his love of broadcasting through tapes and transcriptions of early network programs, stirring an interest in the technology of the period. This has evolved into professional projects of media preservation and marketing, under the auspices of Vidi-Visions Productions.

Captivated by history, he revels in uncovering the dusty exploits of any pioneer, gladly chipping rust from the most obscure of stories. Coupled with an extensive knowledge of music publishing and licensing, this has led to his involvement as an artistic director and administrator in certain Flights of Fancy, otherwise known as the “Flying Proms.”

Jonathan has been an active member of Tidewater’s vibrant community of musicians. He is Principal bass clarinetist with the Symphony Orchestra of Virginia Beach, Symphonicity, and the Virginia Wind Symphony (resident ensemble for the “Flying Proms”). Having appeared with various acclaimed performing artists and conductors, full notation of his musical exploits may be found under the Grand Staff, including a Discography of his commercial recordings.

A native of Hampton Roads, Virginia, Jonathan enjoys travel by plane, train or automobile, and offers an account of his ongoing journey as a Travelogian elsewhere in these pages.
